Point taken.  :)

But ... what about cross platform support for features? How will I know if it works for the Mac version? It would be nice to have some indication if something (already) works on MacOS (and probably Linux). An example from my canceled journey to use MC for my video collection in addition to audio:

I wanted to know what's supported when importing tagged mp4 video files so I looked:

* https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Import ... OK, let's go on
* https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Category:File_Types ... fine,
* https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Video_Formats ... OK
* https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/MP4_and_M4A_File_Support ... oops:
* Deprecated: This content has been deprecated as of MC16 and may no longer be valid. Please refer to Red October for additional details.
* Red October. That ship doesn't sail in Mac waters. ...
No problem. There are still .nfo files here for all the video files so let's check that out.

* https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=nfo&go=Go
* https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Release_Notes_MC19 ... great, it should be there
* Well, there are a few posts in the forum when it comes to plot mapping - I could manage that; even so it would be nice to know how the mapping works / what's actually support but I can find that out myself with some tests
* Hmm, after some tests nothing from existing nfo files got imported; well, no problem - let's try sidecar files (I had used those in the old days when I was still on Windows) ... https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Sidecar_Files
* Well, not too much info there on how those are structured, so no chance for me to rewrite the nfo files to jriver sidecar xml ones ... the only information I found for what has to be in one of those was outside jriver.com
* Still, no problem. Just create an example file from within MC and check it out ... well, that didn't work, even so I thought to have activated all needed switches in options. Whatever ...
Edit note: removed irrelevant remark(s).

JimH:
I don't know what MC can do for tags when importing on a Mac.  Sorry.

Video for Mac is fairly recent and may not have the same support as on Windows.

I understand your need for more information, but I can't help.

ugee:
Just in case: my story was meant to be an example for my personal troubles with some small part of the MC documentation. I gave up on this so no need to rush for help.

... ;)

JimH:
I understood that.  I just thought it would probably generate off-topic discussion.
