MC (Linux) Client does not Wake up MC Server (Windows)
« on: February 28, 2018, 12:53:44 pm »

I have a Linux device (Raspberry compatible) running JRiver as a client of MC running on a Windows Nuc

On boot, when the MC server (Windows Nuc) is asleep, my Linux client does not wake up the MC Server,
and by consequences cannot connect itself to the MC server Library

Is there any parameter to set in order to allow the Linux client waking up my MC server ?

MC has support for WOL - https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Wake_on_Lan

have you tried this?

You may want to note that if the client stays awake when the server goes to sleep then only restarting the client will trigger that WOL packet.

High mattkhan

Yes I have already read the thread about wol.

I do not think about a missing port forwarding, because I also use a Windows client, and my Windows client wake up correctly the MC server ..

In my case my Linux Client is off and the Windows server is asleep, I switch on my Linux client that is supposed to wake  up the server

OK then I'd expect it to work, i.e. as far as I can remember a linux client does wake a windows server (I don't let my server sleep these days so can't verify that right now)

I guess you could run a packet capture yourself to check the WOL packet does go out the door and arrives at the server otherwise I am not sure what else you can do to debug this. Do you have any other linux machines you can try? i.e. to verify that it's not a source device specific problem
