[Request] ASIO: Maximize Device Volume During Playback
« on: March 04, 2018, 07:02:21 am »

WASAPI has a great feature which is "maximize device volume during playback".
This sets the device volume in Windows to 100%, which means that volume control is handled entirely by Media Center, and guarantees that bitstreaming will work with all devices.

ASIO is missing this option.
If the device volume was below 100% when playback started, DSD bitstreaming can break with many DACs, resulting in either silence, or very loud white noise playing over the speakers.
I know this does not affect all DACs, as many ignore the device volume, but many do not.

Media Center already has an option to enable control of the ASIO device volume, but lacks an option to automatically set it to 100% during playback (and restore when it stops), which is essential for bitstreaming with many DACs.
