Library lists deleted files, how to clean up automatically.
(1/1)
Gio300ZX:
There are a number of Albums in my library which have either been moved or deleted (outside JRiver). How can I rebuild or refresh the Library so these entries disappear? At the moment, I have to identify them one-by-one and delete which is a tad manual.
For comparison, in Windows Media Player (that I am trying to move away from), if you try to play a file that no longer exists, WMP will remove that entry on it's own (sometimes takes several attempts).
Thanks.
RD James:
Because Media Center is often used in setups where the media resides on a networked drive, where they may be disconnected, it does not remove 'missing' files by default.
If you go to Tools > Import > Configure Auto Import, you can enable the "Fix Broken Links" option. I recommend that you use the "Protect files on missing drives" setting.
Gio300ZX:
Thank you. That solves the issue. It has taken me some time to try it.
I had not setup Auto Import in an attempt to keep things simple. Now I have. It seems to work more like "Monitor this folder for changes" than "Auto Import" - but that is just a semantic quibble on my part. Now that I have tried it and can see what it does (I think :) ) it's making sense.
And, thanks to your settings, the files / folders that had been moved, don't show up in MC anymore. Thanks.
PS since the original post, I am now on MC24.

Hi Gio300zx can you share your settings regarding Auto Import? I'm having the same issue you had before, JR library just won't auto remove the files I deleted outside (through Finder on my Mac). Thanks!
