Hi all.
I think that search doesn't work as should.
It's very simple to reproduce:

Press Ctrl+F, search field is activated, but keyboard input is impossible .
The only way - is to mouse click in search field, then you able to type and search.

I assume this is a 2 byte character input, like Chinese for example?

Cyrillic characters.

Actually, typing latin letters has same behavior.

Works for me on xfce. When I hit ctrl-F the cursor goes immediately into the search box.
Sounds like this is a kde specific thing. Look for window tweaks in the settings (like focus stealing, etc).

You are right, it's KDE/KWin related.

The direct KDE solution to this is to select Settings --> Window Behavior --> Focus --> Policy --> Focus Under Mouse

The KDE default is Click to Focus, which results in poor MC performance because you have to double-click to search or edit a field. For whatever reason Click to Focus is presented by KDE as the best and most common option but I've noticed no negatives from using Focus Under Mouse.
