Carrying my JRiver catalogue with me
okvaal:
Hope this is the right group.
Sometimes, if I come across a used-record shop, or I'm travelling out of town or whatever, I may come across a record which I'm not sure whether I've got in my collection or not (like, Haydn wrote a lot of symphonies). So I'd like to check. Could I do this by using i.e. JRemote? I guess my whole collection will be there, just without any connection to my player, is that right? I will still be able to browse through it just to see what is there, or is there another and/or better method?
astromo:
I've dumped library details to Excel before.
Search the forum for leads.
So, it shouldn't be too hard to carry a searchable index of your library on your phone.
jmone:
I use a remote (JRemote etc) for exactly this.

And as one record would sometimes be 50-60 files, that would take 50-60 lines in the spreadsheet. But I may off course have done something wrong, like using the wrong view, or something. If you can point your finger at it, please do so! :-)
- using JRemote: I can - again as far as I know - only view my collection on this device when I can connect to my main server, which I can't when I
