ok.... this might be at least partly insane..... but I just tried to do it.....
- it hangs on me cmos.ram file (c:\window\system32\cmos.ram)
even 'cancel' doesn't work (winxp-pro, German)
- it hangs when trying to import only partly downloaded (progressive) .gif files. (sorry, allready deleted them... irfanview, xnview showed them.... partly)
and now the insane part.....
I have a folder on my C:\ drive that holds around 140,000 pictures and probably the same amount of .html files. .... (hey, this is a complete archive of the last 10 years of Germany's best computer magazine ct' and I don't want to change cds....)
Importing All Local Drives (including this folder.....) and playing around with MC created a Thumbnails folder holding 15,000 files ('only' 39 MB) ....
Importing All Local Drives again... imported these 15,000 .jpg files....
MC is realy starting to crawl when dealing with a 26MB database holding around 150,000 files ....
ok... that's what I did and what happend.... now my suggestions:
- don't import MC's thumbnails folder(s) (at least not by default)
- add a list of folders to _ex_clude from import.
Ingo
p.s.: ok... or speed up the database to make not it crawl with 150,000 .gif files ;-)
