Ripping on what platform? Encrypted DVDs/Blu-rays (e.g. nearly all commercial releases) on Windows likely will require a third-party decryptor like AnyDVD.

The AnyDVD HD link points to http://www.slysoft.com/en/ which is now a dead/parked domain.
