Trying to play a MP4 Dolby Digital Plus Atmos file. JRiver won't import it or play it. See the MATT DAREY PRODUCER DJ SET at http://www.mattdareywolf.com/ WMP plays it fine. I haven't delved into the other TrueHD versions on the page yet.

Never new you could have ATMOS extensions with lossy DD.  While I'm sure Hendrik will comment, the file will play if you change the extension from MP4 to either MPA/M2TS/MKV etc

I don't think it is lossy as it is 1.2 GB file.

Although yeah, Dolby Digital would imply lossy.

All Dolby Digital + (DD+ / E-AC-3) are lossly.  FYI - This track has 15 Atmos Objects so I guess it is for up to 9.2.4 speakers (though it has a 5.1 lossy channels).  Turns out it is not so odd - the Dolby Site also has some clips that are DD+/Atmos : https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/test-tones.html in MP4 (though theirs includes a video track that your sample does not).

In the next build:
NEW: Support for playing Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital Plus in audio-only MP4 files.

Thanks.

Upgraded to MC24 and can play back these files. Also, handheld syncing in 64 bit is working for my iPods and android. Must have missed those fixes because I would have upgraded long ago.

Being a big fan of multi-channel music, I decided to give this a try. I installed MC 24.0.34. I downloaded 3 of the Matt Darey audio tracks: the DJ Mix (.mp4), the 10 track Wolf album (.mp4) and the .mkv version of the Wolf album. I listened to 3 recordings (the 2 full recordings and track 1 of the 10 tracks). I listened twice; once tagged as Media Type VIDEO and once tagged as Media Type AUDIO. I bitstream the audio to my AVR. Here are my findings:

Media Type = Video |Media Type = Audio
Track 1AVR reported Dolby ATMOS,the volume was low|AVR reported PCM 5.1,the volume was correct,MC reported 6 channels
.mkvAVR reported Dolby ATMOS,the volume was correct|AVR reported PCM 7.1,the volume was correct,MC reported 8 channels
DJ MixAVR reported Dolby ATMOS,the volume was low|AVR reported PCM 5.1,the volume was correct,MC reported 6 channels

Something isn't quite right yet.

HD bitstreaming is currently only available for video playback, so those results seem as expected. Note that we have no influence on the volume when bitstreaming.

The .mp4 "Video" test volume was excessively low where, at the same volume setting, it was quite loud for the "Audio" tests.

Re. the attachment
MC showed 2/8/2 Channels regardless of the Media Type setting.
