Any update if it is now possible to add an ATMOS option to Tools--> Options--> Audio--> Settings--> Bitstreaming--> Custom (instead of using Zone Switch)?
Thanks

No, this is not possible. MC doesn't know if a stream contains Atmos extensions.

No, this is not possible. MC doesn't know if a stream contains Atmos extensions.

Would this be possible in the future?  MediaInfo can detect Atmos and DTS:X since around February.

The future is a long time, who knows. No current plans.

LAV also knows... I presume that MC uses its own parser to collect the metadata?

My apologies, I thought I had read in the LAV change logs ages ago about ATMOS fixes

It would still be easier for a user to be able to simply tag a file as ATMOS, DTS:X or whatever and have it automatically bitstream. Using Zones works but just another step for the user.

After digging around, I think I'm correct is saying that MC uses ffmpeg/ffprob to get stream info like the Audio Formats used and that they (and hence MC) don't (currently) recognise if the TrueHD/DTS-MA also has Atmos/DTS:X..... but MediaInfo can.  I've added to my "Swag of Tools" the ability to scan files using MediaInfo that then:
- Creates a MediaInfo.txt sidecar file (that you can view using RightClick--> Extras), and
- Update the Compression Field with "+Atmos" / " "+DTS:X"
- This info can then be used to setup a ZoneSwitch

More info in the Swag of Tools Thread.

Updated FFmpeg to version 4.0, used for file analysis and transcoding.

I take it that ffmpeg still can not identify ATMOS and/or DTS:X (I did test ffprobe and did not see anything that shows it does)?

Thanks
