Media Server Credentials
« on: July 29, 2018, 09:33:37 pm »

In the Media Server Wiki it says "Authentication:  If your Library Server is available to the Internet (or if you are not sure if it is), use Authentication. In the server options, enable Authentication and set a user name and password that must be provided by the client before the connection is allowed."

Question:  How does one set up the User Name and Password?  I couldn't find that.  Sounds so simple I must be missing something obvious.

I think it is in Tools -> Options -> Media Network -> Authentication.

I think it is in Tools -> Options -> Media Network -> Authentication.

That is where it asks you to sign in.  But, that doesn't seem to be the set-up functionality.

I think it is in Tools -> Options -> Media Network -> Authentication.

I take that back.  Tried it.  You are correct.  Thanks!

Ok great.

Yes as you've seen put any credentials you like in there, and when you access the library on that server from anywhere else, client machine, panel, jremote, those are the credentials you use.

I don't believe - but could be wrong -  they have any actual function on the local server instance.
