Media Server

I just wondered if anyone had tried to use the media server functionality yet, and if so, what are your experiences? I'm about to try an get it set up so that a freind of mine can access my music library, but I also want to set it up so that I can access my library at work.

The instructions in the help files seem straightforward, but if anyone's used it before I'd be greatful for any advice before I start!

you must use the same version on the two computers.

Mine currently uses MC 9.0.103 so if your using MJ8 you can not contact it.

If you Are using MC9 use the 9.0.103 version and use this address: 24.88.229.242:81

If you're running a personal firewall, may interfere with yr. access. ZoneAlarm is a particular problem. Had to uninstall it and replace with SyGate, which seems to be fine.

Depending on bandwidth, you may be limited to accessing files of 128 or less. With larger files, a lot of buffering.

As King says, make sure the client and host versions are identical.

Hey guys, thanks for all your help. I guess the only thing now is to give it a try, I'll probably be back for more help if (when)I can't get it working!
