possible to pipe our text of current playing track/artist/album?

(1/1)

Hi

i was wondering since there doesn't seem to be any MPRIS support can one somehow query the server to pipe out text of the current playing track/artist/album?
This could be useful to pipe out to a panel bar plasmoid/widget to show current playing info

best

On the Devzone page (link at the bottom) take a look at MCWS.

haha :) thats what gave me the idea :D :D

i love you plasma and I love kde which ive been using for past 10 years..BUT..there is a nasty bug in the last few weeks where if im connected to a TB dock (which i am 90% of the day at work and home) kde isnt usable since all cpu cores are at 99%.. :( :(

so until i can figure this out im banned to gnome :D

still would be cool at least im back at kde (and for sure use your plasmoid!) to get a track/artist line on the gnome bar

im not really a programmer, could you give me some hints ;-)

best and thx for the awesome plasmoid!

Short of real MPRIS support, you can try using system notifications by modifying my old notifier script to use the current MC version numbers:

I tested and it still worked as of a few months ago.

You could also try building it into a conky display as shown here, which works on a similar principle:

These are both "rough" solutions, but should work in a basic way.
