MC9 Hinders Win XP Shut-Down or Re-Start
« on: May 29, 2003, 01:22:16 pm »

This is a long-standing problem.

Trying to shut-down or re-start Win XP with MC9 running is erratic.

Most of the time I have MC9 reduced to the task tray.  Almost every time I do a re-start or shut-down programs will close one by one until it gets to MC then the computer freezes.  If I unload MC9 & re-try the shut-down or re-start it will go ok.

But... If a new program install (not MC) or a new Microsoft update patch is installed which requires a re-start MC does NOT hinder the re-start.

Why?

I've had this problem as well for a while, but never connected it to Media Center.  However, after reading your post, I disabled the scheduler and found that everything shut down fine.

Not sure what I'm contributing here, just backing DocLotus up.  I've seen it too.

Agreed. Erratic is the word. Sometimes works, sometimes not. But even when it does, it does seem to cause an unnecessary delay of several seconds.  :(
