Hi all

so ive noticed in the last few days that unfortunately the thing slowing my laptop down is MC .. :)

it seems like its taking up close to 60% cpu time. here is the output of top:

--- Code: ---  PID USER      PRI  NI  VIRT   RES   SHR S CPU% MEM%   TIME+  Command                                                                                      │
12548 zeltak     20   0 2540M  165M 56544 R 59.3  1.0  8:31.48 mediacenter24

--- End code ---

I would appreciate any help you guys can offer to try and debug this

Im using latest MC 25.0.52 with updated Arch linux on a thinkpad X1 carbon gen 5

thx again

I'd try disabling the Spectrum Analyzer, which has been known in the past to cause an increase of CPU usage (though, I thought they addressed that). In the main MC window (in the area of the upper top part of MC's window where it says Media Center 24) right click and uncheck Show Spectrum Analyzer.

zeltak:
Ha! you were right :D !!

such a simple thing that made MC unusable for hours

thx so much!!

That shouldn't be an issue anymore.
It does use more cpu but on my old core2 quad it's only around 6%

Hi

Ok so after a few days of quite (after disabling the spectrum analyzer) i seem to again today have severe cpu usage from MC

PID USER      PRI  NI  VIRT   RES   SHR S CPU% MEM%   TIME+  Command                                                              │
 2555 zeltak     20   0 2768M  374M 60988 S 42.7  2.4  3:26.23 /usr/bin/mediacenter24

Please advise on how to debugg/address this as it makes the system unusable..

im running latest arch with gnome DE 3.30

best

Z
