Windows to Mac

MSchott:
My Windows computer has died and I'm thinking about replacing it with a Mac. Two questions:

1) Will my Windows music FLAC files work on a Mac, and
2) If I download JRiver onto the Mac, will my account transfer over or do I need to buy the Mac version? I am running an older version of JRiver, I think it's Media Center 21.

JimH:
1. Yes.

2.  No, but you can purchase it as an upgrade. Or you can purchase a Master License.

MSchott:
Thank you Jim.

I've been using the Mac version of MC since version 20.  I'm mostly quite happy with it.  Coming from Windows, you will notice some differences.  You should read the first post in this thread, which describes most of those differences:

...and of course a Mac is a Mac and not a Windows box.  Things are different on a Mac.  Mostly in a positive way.  You have to expect that going in if you want to have a good experience.  Many very experienced Windows users get very put off by the Mac because it works differently.  It's a different operating system from an entirely different company and philosophy.  So it's going to be different.  But mostly in a good way in my opinion.

Good luck.

Brian.

Thank you. I've worked with Mac's in the past which is the reason I'm leaning in that direction. I'm willing to spend more for the quality and user interface.
