Author Topic: Imports on Mac won't recognize new folders for auto/manual import  (Read 580 times)

I've added a few new HDTracks downloads and the folders appear on an external NTFS formatted drive on my MAC.  The NTFS drive is available via the Paragon NTFS app.

I can't ever seem to get the auto or manual import to work.  It searches the library but never finds anything to add.  I've checked the import options and I have the proper extensions for FLAC selected (and all other audio files).  The proper drive and main folder is selected as is the search all child folders option.  I've checked the permissions and MC24 is given full access.  I'm just not sure why it never finds anything new.

Looking at the log file I generated for this function, the only think I can see is a repeated connection bind failure on port 1900 on what appears to be my MAC IP address.  I do have the media server option open but I'm not sure why it needs an open port for an import.  I do have Internet access available for cover art lookup I believe.  I don't recall any new information about needing port 1900 set to open.

Any suggestions for something I've missed?

You could try deactivating the Paragon app temporarily and then try the autoimport.

Thanks for the suggestion but that won't actually help since all of the music files are on the NTFS drive.  Deactivating Paragon means that I can't access the drive and the music at all.  I can access the files and play them within MC24 but I can't get import to work.

I was somehow able to rebuild all of the music Library and playlist with Paragon running after loading MC24 about 2-3 months ago.  I was having the same problem then.  I think I deleted the entire library and started over.  I'd prefer not to do that every time I purchase new music.

I don't recall having this problem in earlier versions of iOS and MC.

Port 1900 is used for SSDP/DLNA connections. If Media Server is running in MC, then those messages would be some DLNA Client trying to connect, or MC looking for DLNA Clients, or something like that. MC doesn't need port 1900 open for Auto Import to work.

You shouldn't have to delete the library and start over, ever. In fact, doing that just hides the problem and it will never get fixed.

In the Standard View Navigation Pane on the left, can you open the "Drives & Devices > Explorer > etc." and navigate to the location where your new HDTracks are stored?
If you can find the files there, check the [Media Type] tag is set to "Audio".
If you double-click on one of the files in there, does it play?

Can you navigate to "Audio > Files > etc." and drill down to the same location where your new HDTracks are stored?
If so your files have been imported, and they must just have some tags set so you don't see them in the Views you are using. Of course, to see them in the above, they must be correctly tagged as [Media Type]=Audio.

If you can see then in the MC "Drives & Devices > Explorer > etc.", but can't see them under "Audio > Files > etc." even though they are tagged correctly as Audio, do you have "Ignore previously removed from library" ticked in the Auto Import settings?
If so, unticked that setting and run Auto Import again.

Let us know how you go.

Paragon shouldn't be the issue. But Paragon may not be sharing File Events with the MAC, which MC uses to almost immediately import any new files. (At least MC does on Windows, and I think it is the same for the MAC version.) Auto Import should still find the files though, as it does run regularly to check for new files. Also, a manual run of Auto Import should find the files.

Paragon shouldn't be the issue.

Yep, it shouldn't. I've used Paragon NTFS for several years and it works fine with MC. It sounds like to me it's not importing previously removed files like you mentioned above.
