Pre-Order JRiver for Android at a Discount
GreggP:
It's in the Google Play Store now. I just purchased/installed it on my NVIDIA Shield. It will still only work with media files stored on the Shield. I'm hoping it will eventually connect to my PC's Media Center server and play from that library. All of our media files are stored on our unRAID network server. For now, this app isn't able to do anything for me. I guess it's a donation to future development.

I'm still waiting too. I have 2 Shields. I really want it to be able to access my NAS box via SMB with JRiver. As a point of reference, Plex can do this when running their server. But Plex is awful for music and I really want JRiver. I am also hoping this will work on Amazon Fire Sticks as well.

You can load a remote MC library, but there's a trick right now:

I haven't been "here" in some time.
But, I love JRiver and wondered if it was available for Android devices so here I am.
Needless to say I have some reading to do but this thread made my day. I have a couple of Android based items. A very inexpensive but now somewhat hard to find ONN 4K $20 Walmart thing and a Zidoo Z9X. My Nordic Track also seems to run on Android ... Imagine having access to JRiver on my treadmill .... could be life changing!
;D

bhampster please don't get your hopes up - it's now workable but there are limits.
I was fooled into that preorder at the time, but whatever they had as "jriver on android" it was not what I would have imagined.
I'm sure the intention was true, but the limitations of android and perhaps also the android expertise in house just hadn't delivered.
It was a clunky player for local files. Tried it last in the summer I think. I removed it in grumpyness.
Though having reinstalled it today following your post it is able to see some zones on my network and see the jriver library on my pc.
I was able to use my phone to change what was playing in my jriver on my desktop or any zones my desktop sees. I was able to play from that library on the phone.
Selecting is still clunky but we're a lot closer to what I expected back when I preordered. I'm still disappointed because some of the functionality I expected ended up in jremote/jremote2 but I don't have enough trust left to shell out another $10 and find out I still can't pick from my jriver library to play on my google speakers
