I've mentioned this anomally/bug in another thread but no one responded to it.  It only came to light when I started to play around with view schemes and organizing MC to reflect my music only interests.

My permanent library is G:\Music and includes my Cover Art folder \Music\Images.  I have another folder Audit and a library that points to it.  It contains downloaded music and covers, if I decide to keep them I use MC to rename the music files to the \Music root and move the cover art to \Music\Images.  Problem is that when I open my main library and import files from \Music with sub-folders checked I get the music files but MC does not import the cover art.

So today I had a hunch and instead of moving the covers into the Image folder I moved them into \Music.  Then I did an import and MC found the covers.  Next.

I created a folder \Music\Test and used Explorer to move some of the covers from \Music to \Music\Test and the rest into \Music\Images.  In MC I removed the new found cover art from the library and did a new import, MC found the covers in \Music\Test but missed the ones that were moved into \Music\Images.

That's it.  Can this behavior be fixed?

OT: A feature request
Would it be possible to set a default import folder for each Library?  So that instead of the last import parameter being used you get the Library's default import folder.  Its a real pain when moving back and forth between libraries to have to navigate the tree to find the right folder every time.  Why not a drop box with a list of previously used folders?

If you use an external folder, you have to use Artist - Album.jpg naming and tell MC to use that folder in Options -> File Naming & Location

Right-click -> Cover Art -> Quick Find Cover Art will automatically search that folder.

I just tried it and it's working for me.

Anyone else?

I believe for importing, MC purposely ignores the cover art directory that is specified in Tools/Options/File Naming & Location. This is probably so that you're not forced to import the images if you don't want them to be imported. You can import files from this folder if you specifically choose the cover art directory in the Import Media Files dialog. Instead of importing from G:\Music (with Search for files in subdirectories), import from G:\Music\Images.

No... it should use the setting and pick up the images.  If it doesn't, it's a bug.

Seems to me this meets your bug specification.

Yes, it picks up the images and associates them with music files as cover art. However, if I read gvag's post correctly, that's not what he's talking about. He wants to import the images into his library.

If the cover art directory specified in Tools/Options/File Naming & Location is a subdirectoy of the the base path (for example, D:\Music\Cover Art), that cover art directory is ignored when you use the Import Media Files dialog (Tools/Import Media), even when the Search For Files In Subdirectories option is checked.
