weird checkered empty space in the now playing area

latest macos and MC (24.0.72). Suddenly the now playing area looks like an checkered empty space (see attachment)

any clue how to revert back to album view?

It looks like the album art currently there is transparent.

Try setting the album art again.

it happens in any track/album. been this way since a few days ago and thousands of tracks already played
