Conversion from DSF
« on: February 17, 2019, 08:51:45 am »

Converting from DSD128 or DSD256 to FLAC using the default options fails. You need to enable DSP and convert the sample rate to something like 176,400Hz. There's a useful discussion here:

However, before discovering this, my first workaround was to try converting to ALAC. The conversion proceeds without complaint, but after converting from DSD256 to ALAC I ended up with an m4a file with a sample rate of 1.4MHz, which I don't think any DAC can play. Mine certainly can't. Of course using DSP on the fly to change the sample rate of the converted file to 176,400Hz works, but the goal in the first place was to produce a file that a DAC can play directly.

I'm very happy that Media Center has the power to do this, and can be configured to make it work. When you open the options dialog it would be great if the system recognized that you were about to convert DSD128 or DSD256 and included a warning with a link to a wiki page or something. Would this be difficult to add?
