problems in bit matching

(1/1)

Quanticenesono:
Hi,
I downloaded few days ago a trial version of JRiver for Mac. I've a Mac Mini which is connected via usb to the  DAC Matrix Mini i Pro 2.
At the beginning it was working fine; now (probably after having tried to use DSD function) I have a problem that I'm not able to solve.
Whatever output format is selected, my DAC receive a signal that is 32 bit. The sampling rate at the opposite is always correct.
Example: the file is 16 bit 44,1KHz.
In DSP Studio the Output format data shown are:
      Source: 44,1 KHz 16bit 2ch
      Internal: 44,1 KHz 64bit 2ch (I don't understand why)
On the DAC I see:
PCM 32bit  44,1KHz (that is even more strange, because if 64bit is selected by something, the Matrix DAC would be able to read it)
Thanks in advance for your help

Stefano

Awesome Donkey:
All it does is pad the bit-depth to 64-bit internally (which is best when doing DSP) and outputs it (again, padded) to the highest bit-depth set in the audio device's settings (e.g. CoreAudio) and/or the max supported.

It's still bit-perfect with the padded bit-depth. There's no dithering or anything like that occurring.

Ok, thank you, but do you know how to come back to the normal set up? I mean when is 16 bit is 16 bit, if 24 than is 24 and so on?

Quanticenesono:
Thank you. Now understood and solved
