Samsung stops producing blu-ray players
Scobie:
Agreed, mirrors what is happened in audio with mp3 and even bluetooth, convenience will win out over quality most of the time.
Not that may high end players left, Cambridge Audio have the CXUHD but as you say this is looking like videophile only as it will be price prohibiltive for the average punter.
Hilton:
I'm about to pick up a Cambridge CXUHD.
I was going to go the Oppo route but I'd rather get a current supported player than a really expensive discontinued player.
I've been really pleased with the results of MakeMKV with UHD lately, it's had no problems with any of my discs but I do worry about "friendly" drives disappearing completely from the market and leaving us with no option but to stream or play discs.
jmone:
Yup - I picked up several Friendly drives just in case.

Official UHD drives are supported by MakeMKV now.

I picked up more than I care to admit right before the announcement that the official drives will be supported. I have one of them now too.
