Getting popping sound on playback with MC9

I am getting a weird popping noise when I play back an original cd in MC9. I can play the same cd in Win Media Player and it works fine. I have a Toshiba DVD/CDR drive and I have never had a problem with any playback of original cd's before. It ripps great anfd I can play mp3's fine, just originals make the popping sound. Any help would be appreciated. :o

What happens if you rip a track from the CD? Does the resultant file have the same defects?
