S/PDIF Does not Work with latest MC 24.x version :( ?!

Folks,
Trying to bitstream S/PDIF - my MacBook Pro on Mojave 10.14.3 connected via S/DPIF USB-DAC via Coax outputted to my Denon Receiver 3310CI
I played back several .AC3 files and it seems MC decodes the files always no matter what. The Denon does not show it gets an AC3 stream.
I enabled AC3 in the Bitstream S/PDIF menu.  Audio Midi is set at 44.1/24bit for the S/DPIF port. anything I tried does not work.
It simply ignored the S/PDIF bit streaming request.

I all I see int the audio path is that it goest CoreAudio Direct Connection, which is wrong. it needs to bitstream....
