Upsampling to 48k kHz required?
« on: April 01, 2019, 01:55:20 pm »

I've reimaged my PC after I guess 2 years or so of usage, and I've restored my JRiver configuration. Everything went smoothly, except it refused to play and showed me the message that 44,1k kHz files cannot be played. I use ASIO mode to play, but the same happens in WASAPI, and I don't think there's any requirement to have 48k kHz files with those drivers.

I've used DSP Studio to upsample them to 48k kHz and they play fine, but I'm wondering why I had to do so, if everything worked before.

I use Asus Xonar U7 MKII sound card that surely supports 44,1k kHz files. I've noted that Windows has installed with 48k kHz as the default frequency in the sound device settings, but even if I lower it to 44,1k kHz, music won't play.

Anyone can advise on this?

So if you use the Windows Sound Properties dialog box to test 44.1 will it play the test sound?

Are you using some sort of Bluetooth device somewhere in your setup, perhaps?

@kensn - yes, the test sound plays without any issues.

@Awesome Donkey - nope, I even have BT disabled completely.

I will play with my cabling a bit, maybe this is the issue source...
