DLNA Problem
« on: March 16, 2019, 09:29:49 pm »

Per RoderickGI's guidance on a prior post (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,119139.0.html), I successfully linked two Macs using ZoneSync 2. Worked to my satisfaction.

But then I added another media player (Como Audio's Musica, which supports UPnP) to the mix -- and then the setup broke down. Break-ups, skips, generally unlistenable sound.

Need to have the three devices to enable whole house play, but don't see any way to fix it. Anybody have suggestions? Also, any DLNA improvements coming in MC25?

This isn’t really an MC problem, but rather an issue with UPNP Digital Media Renderer v1. The issue is that DMR v1 does not have methods for syncing playback between multiple renderers. The issue was fixed in DMR v2 and onwards, but unfortunately no manufacturer seems to have actually implemented that spec. So currently the “best” way of syncing playback to multiple renderers (in a zone) is to use the same renderers type throughout. And even that is far from perfect.
