A good tip to set volume level for vinyl??

Or just a non sense from me?
Today the greatest problem is that you need to move the stylus from one part of the lp to another one ,NO GOOD if you want to keep your vinyl mint .
Most of my 30years+ lps are still as new.
I ALLWAYS play a full side ,not one song  or one part of one song.

So here what i am thinking about:
to make a cd with different kinds of music.
And to use it to set the volume level.
You want to rip death metal ? Play in the stereo or a discman the part of the cd with death metal ,set volume.
Plug the turnable and start to rip.
You may find out that you need to correct the setting on a regular base . Like cd volume +2 or -1

It is a good way to set volume or just my brillant mind freaking out?
