All of my files are organized by Artist\Album\Track # - Track name.MP3. When I try to use the Fill Properties from Trackname feature, everything is filled out properly except the track name. The track name shows as Track# - Track name (even though the track # field is filled properly).

Am I missing something? Thanks.

Not 100% certain about this. I seem to remember a few posts complaining that if you edited the column header names, then the rename from properties got broke.

So, if you changed the track # field to, say, just #, then your string for rename from properties would need to be altered to reflect this.

Filename:

• - [NAME]
  
  If you haven't changed the column headers, I've no other ideas.

I think the correct mask to use for Track # is [TRACK #] rather than [TRACK#]  The fact that your files are showing the latter I would try using the former

Unfortunately, I haven't edited the column names. Also, I am using [TRACK #]. It does seem to pick up the track number. It looks to me as if it doesn't want to overwrite an existing track name.

It seems to read all properties perfectly except name. It seems to always use the filename for the name, whatever it is.

it is too bad people do not use the tags in the file name.

this helps out for when tags get corruped and it makes for fast and easy fixing of the problem.

Just Tested

Used Dir Mask
[ARTIST]\[ALBUM]

File Name Mask
[TRACK #] - [NAME]

It filled in the file tags properly using version 9.0.174

if your file name Is

00-SongName

It will not pickup the info because there is no spaces between the Dash. and the mask

[TRACK #]-[NAME]

would need to be used

there is a reason for this and it would be because MC9 would think an artist name would be two fields like

Go-go's
A-ha
Chi-lites

etc...

this mask [TRACK #]-[NAME]
would be needed for:
C:\Music\No Doubt\Rock Steady\00-Hella Good.mp3

so make sure the file name is as you said that has spaces between the dash if not remove the spaces in the mask
