I may have missed this somewhere, however is it not possible to rip my cds to my library in MC25 for Linux?
It only look like it supports importing files to my Library even though Tools->Options->encoding is set to use FLAC.
under devices in the left pane, nothing is listed even though I have a usb CD/DVD drive connected and Mint sees the drive and the disk.
Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know, CD ripping isn't supported on Linux yet.

I'm disappointed as this is a deal breaker for me at this time, I was really hoping to be able to ditch my windows version.
Do you know if this is on the dev road map and if it has been made a priority?

I would recommend you to use either Sound Juicer (native Linux program to rip CDs with) or use Exact Audio Copy under wine. There isn't gonna be a whole lot of difference in the outcome, but people seem to praise Exact Audio Copy for the best Audio Quality you can get ripping your CDs. So there is that. I used it before on Windows and then I tried it on Fedora under wine and it worked perfectly fine. I've also tried Sound Juicer, it's a bit easier I think. I'm not sure anybody can actually hear a difference between the two.

Just curious on the status of adding this function to Linux.  I am currently using Media Monkey, and while MM is reported to work in Wine, MM won't rip CD's in Wine.  A full featured media manager (e.g. JRiver or Media Monkey) is my last program that I need to make a full transition Linux only.

You can get Exact Audio Copy (EAC) working under Wine on Linux if you want to rip CDs. That's what I'd use if I ripped CDs using a Linux distro.

If you can use the Terminal, you may be able to use whipper to rip CDs too.

Whipper looks interesting though. Would be great to be able to rip CDs using whipper via a GUI.

SoundJuicer has very poor reviews due to the inability to specify bit-rate (for me, my CD does not even show up in it so I've not tested it) and apparently Exact Audio Copy is difficult to get running under Wine.  I get a message that it's loading but it never appears so built-in support would be greatly appreciated..

I can say that dBpoweramp runs perfectly under wine for me if you have a license.  That's what I use for ripping on Linux.

For me Exact Audio Copy 'just worked' on Fedora I installed wine and double clicked the installer. That is all I did. Did you try it?

I dont think specifying bitrate is very important. rip to .wav and take whatever bits there are on the CD then you can convert it to flac or any other format of you want. I dont understand why it would get a bad rating based on that. Maybe if there is a cap or generally bad results.

i'm returning to MC25 on Linux after long absence.
i've left Windows 10 a year ago and have not had single regret.
so i was glad to see MC25 fly on Ubuntu as it used to under Windows but
disappointed to not see CD Ripper in the Action window.

please make MC25 complete on Linux.
