sync to handheld off of smartlist
« on: May 02, 2019, 09:30:27 am »

I use the playable tag on all of my files.
I have a smartlist that will select based on that tag.
It works and shows only playable files.
When I try to sync it selects all of the files not just the playable ones.
How do I sync based on the playable files?

If your options are like the screenshot below, only songs included in the two checked smartlists will sync.

Smartlists are more like saved searches than Playlists. They are evaluated each time they are viewed, or refreshed.

If the Smartlist you are using works correctly when you normally view it, then it sounds like the Handheld Sync isn't properly evaluating the Smartlist.

Post an image of your Smartlist definition.

I have one album with 8 tracks in my library.
The first 5 tracks have playable selected.
The last 4 tracks do not have playable selected.

My smartlist is
[Media Type]=[audio] [Playable]=1 ~s=256000
This works.
Toggling Playable from 1 to 0 results in the reverse selection.
The options on my device are set to
Autosync is off
Enable artwork is on
Resync if date modified is on

On the right side
All audio is selected
Playlists
  Smartlist
      Handheld 256g is selected
         [Media Type]=[audio] [Playable]=1 ~s=256000

Try changing your Smartlist from
[Media Type]=[audio] [Playable]=1 ~s=256000
to
[Media Type]=[audio] [Playable,0]=1 ~s=256000

That shouldn't make any difference, as it is just saying to evaluate the raw data in the Playable field, rather than the formatted data. But this is the only thing I can think of to try other than having JRiver fix the problem.

Uncheck all 4 of those boxes for media types.
You're telling it to since all files where media type = audio, which is ALL of your music.
Only check the boxes of the names of the smartlists.

It looks like unchecking the media boxes fixed the problem.
I'll start loading the rest of my files and see if everything works.

Thank you.

Uncheck all 4 of those boxes for media types.

Good catch. I didn't notice that.
