Author Topic: Route Sonos zone into MC26, familyfriendly output with WASAPI or ASIO?  (Read 1236 times)

Hi, haven't been deep diving into MC's sound formats, routes or drivers (only library and remote access) but are now looking to replace a troubling miniDSP/DAC/HDMIswitch/custom circuit setup with Dirac Live Studio 6ch (VST in MC) setup and a HDMI 8ch DAC as the output device for PC based media (nothing exotic, plain 16/44 FLACS, ripped BD discs, home videos, Netflix, kids streaming services etc).

The user friendliness, ecosystem and system investment makes us stay with Sonos for the time being so I wonder if the audio device "HiFimeDIY UX1 ES9023 USB DAC+SPDIF/USB converter" from https://hifimediy.com/product/ux1-dac/ would enable this "consolidate digital sources" change on the input side together with MC? Spdif input.
And, if that is probable, playing of Netflix, local streaming services via browser etc would be smooth(-er) with WASAPI or ASIO? That is, all 2-6 channel audio played will be mixed in MC and output via DL DSP to a suitable 6-8ch DAC device without restarts, maximum 1 change source button press etc.. We only have a Nintendo switch as another source and that can be disregarded in this system design discussion :)

Thanks in advance for any high or low confidence answer, even alternatives that I haven't pondered are welcome (a NAD or other DL enabled AVR has been looked at but quality and user friendliness seems so-so).
