Unsecured cd rip
« on: May 03, 2019, 05:23:19 am »

I have been attempting to rip a cd and I have been getting an unsecured rip message within the report.  I have tried ripping several times with different formats/settings.  The cd plays straight through when I play it through MC18, but the ripped file has skipping issues at the same point with each rip.  I am running 64bit windows 10.  I have ripped thousands of cd's and this seems to be the first one that I have been unable to obtain a secure rip through several tries.

Sounds like the CD is damaged. If the skipping is indeed at the same point with each rip, that's likely the issue. Depending on the damage (especially if it's label side damage) there's likely nothing you can do about it short of replacing the disc. If it's deep scratches you might be able to find a way to repair it using something like a Skip Doctor or a JFJ repair machine, but it's likely cheaper to just replace the disc.
