Linux version of MC 25.0.50 won't play local video files
mike.vc:
I have a Linux PC with OS Debian Buster 4.19.37-5+deb10u2 installed on a Ryzen 5 2600 CPU with 16GB of memory and a GTX1050Ti graphics card. I installed MC 25.0.50 (amd 64) on the Linux PC and I registered the software and it recognizes all of my media content on my drives. When I attempt the play a video file with formats (.mov, .mpg, .avi and .m4v) they all hang to MC25 player and I can only reboot my PC to regain control over my system.
I do have a firewall running so is there any ports which need to be open for the software to run. When I run MC25 from a terminal I receive the following error: "error binding client socket 98" before I do anything with the program.
I have also confirmed I belong to the following Linux groups: sudo, adm, video, audio.
I am not sure how to troubleshoot this problem since it hangs my OS and I can't look at or save any log files. I can only recover by rebooting.
Awesome Donkey:
You might want to try updating to the latest build, which is 25.0.92.

I upgraded to MC 25.0.92 and MC25 still hangs on video play. When starting from a terminal I will see "segmentation fault" return when the video hangs. Here is a sample log file from the video hang event.
bob:
The error binding to socket is meaningless.
If your machine is using the nouveau X server video you will get poor results.
You should install the manufacturers driver and try again.

I don't see the point in changing video drivers. I have two other programs that will play all of my videos on my local drives with no problems. I can use KDE's Dragon Player or Kodi. I just can't see why MC25 can't do the same on my Linux PC.
