MS cutting off guide data

If you scroll down to about post 6 you will see one user receiving a message that Microsoft will no longer be providing guide listings.

I'm surprised it has lasted this long. Although I guess they had to continue it as long as Windows 7 was supported.

  Playing video out to a Sony 65" TV connected via HDMI, playing digital audio out via motherboard sound card, PCIe TV tuner

I got the message also that Microsoft was shutting down the TV guide Service in Jan 2020.
If I remember correctly, the standard EPG configuration depends on the Microsoft service.
The question I would like to ask is "What are the alternatives?".
