Is it possible to use the equalizer function to compensate for hearing loss?    I have the results of a hearing test which shows how my hearing has deteriorated and I was considering using the equalizer to boost the frequencies (mainly on the high end) that have deteriorated.  Obviously I can just try it and see what happens but I thought I would ask if anyone else has experience with this.   

I am now using hearing aids and they help but they have a tendency to be a little sharp and harsh.

Yes.

I do this on my HTPC, boosting the frequencies in the range of dialogue on the center channel using the Parametric Equaliser so that I can hear the dialogue over all the other noise in a movie. I still have some issues with poor audio drowned out by background music and other sound effects, but it certainly helped. As I am usually the only one listening I can do this globally on my HTPC, rather than using a special Zone as some others have.
