JRiver as endpoint for Spotify
« on: November 02, 2020, 12:46:43 pm »

I know that JRiver does not have native functionality for Spotify built into the player, but is it possible to use JRiver as an endpoint for Spotify playback from an iPhone? Along these lines, I found a thread about using JRiver as an end point for Tidal playback:

Has anybody tried this with Spotify? Would I need to install additional apps like BubbleUPnP on my iPhone? My hope is that this functionality would be possible with the Linux version of JRiver Media Center running on a JRiver Id.

Thanks!

The WDM driver is a Windows only feature (in fact WDM stands for Windows Driver Model), and unfortunately it won't work from a Linux-based Id.

I don't work for JRiver... I help keep the forums safe from "male enhancements" and other sources of sketchy pharmaceuticals.

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I should have been more specific. I'm wondering how to use JRiver as an endpoint for streaming music from an iPhone. Specifically, I'd like to use the Spotify app on my iPhone and play the music on a JRiver Id. I'm not trying to utilize the WDM driver.

After I made my original post, I discovered that the JRiver Id has Airplay functionality and can be used as an Airplay endpoint, so it sounds like this is exactly the functionality I'm looking for.

Has anybody utilized the Airplay feature? Any hiccups getting the JRiver Id and Apple devices to communicate with one another?
