Remove white surround from detached display
« on: September 25, 2019, 11:48:35 am »

Hi
Have been trying unsuccessfully to extend or duplicate my new laptop 1080p display onto
my old (2007 ish) Philips 1080p TV using HDMI but the desktop image is always slightly to big for the TV
so icons are pushed to the left and to the top

When I put display view on with lyrics say the top line of words is also cut off in duplicate view

I have tried to resize the Tv with nvidia control panel but it seems to forget the new resolution when I reboot

So I have extended display on the Tv and moved my detached display there and then resized it to fit as best as I can MC remembers the size

I have changed my desktop background to black but there is a light line round the detached display, if I extend
it right to the edge of the Tv it can go off the edge and i cannot bring it back, I then right click, restore and start again

Or can I move the size of the detached display one pixel at a time using the keyboard arrow keys?

It's certainly the TV at fault here but if I could fade the edge of the detached display it wouldn't look too bad

Cheers Steve

Thanks for the link

It says try your Tv settings first

I have not used the remote for years just the on/off button on the Tv

But found remote, put batteries in it and checked the menus, buried in the back of beyond
HD or PC clicked PC and the desktop fits, MC displays fit fine and the picture is pretty good for a 12 year old telly

Scared to put it back to my Sky box now in case the pictures too small.....

Will try later and worst case just a couple of menu click to reset

Thanks for your help

the setting for pictures is per input usually

so if yout pc is connected ON hdmi1 and you set that on PC mode ... TV shoukd remember that hdmi1 is PC mode

And if your Sky on hdmi3 and you set it to HD mode ... TV should remember tgat too

so changing between hdmi shoukd change to mode you oreviously set for those hdmi

Hi

It has 2 HDMI inputs but I only use 1 as I use my Yamaha AV to change from MC laptop to Sky Q box

Seems ok at the moment Sky TV perfect and MC sized within the TV not too big

My previous laptop was 1024 X 768 and it fitted the TV screen almost spot on even though the TV is 1080
So I presume the overscan worked to my advantage

So fingers crossed it stays that way
