YADB not finding song data
« on: September 28, 2019, 02:46:18 pm »

I have many albums that I digitize to wav files and import to MC25.
I put in Artist name, Album name and track number. Coverted to flac.
I used to be able to then do "lookup track info from online database" in MC to populate track names.

Tried lookup of Elvis Costello My Aim is True. After scanning all tracks it comes back with a "No Information was found". Oddly enough it did find the correct cover art.
So I manually put in track names, Genre, album year. Tried to "Submit Track Info to Online Database". Came back with the message Complete (0:00)

Even tried to Lookup songs in my database with same "No Information was found".

You may know this, but for digitizing vinyl, Discogs is probably the best source. It has multiple releases of the same album, which are also sometimes different from the CD versions, which are what are mostly in YADB.  I did my digitizing on a dedicated A to D then did everything else in VS.  It has direct searches into Discogs. I do all my base tagging right in Vinyl Studio using Discogs.

If you are not familiar with Vinyl Studio, you might take a look at it. It was $29 until recently. However, it looks like the full version has gone up to $49, with an stripped down version at $29. Still a huge bargain either way.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the discogs site for finding albums.
I'm not doing a lot of album digitizing right now so can't see spending
a lot for specialized software.
I am getting the idea that YADB is really only set up for getting info
for CD's. I'll keep looking.
