How to configure media centre to play DSD and sacd over dnla
« on: October 04, 2019, 01:58:10 am »

I tried to follow the instruction on https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/DSD but I'm not finding the advanced options that list 'bitstrwam DSD' that will enable DSD Bitstreaming for your DLNA Server setup . I would be grateful for your help

You need to click on ... add or configure DLNA servers... in Media Network, then click Advanced. It is a different Advanced than the one in the top level of Media Network.

Thanks for your reply. That is what I have attempted to do whilst following the instruction in the wiki web page. But there isn't a the different advanced button that I can click. Can you post a screenshot (unless it is the same in the wiki page above)?

Did you click on the ... add or configure DLNA servers... option?  At the bottom on that page, after video, is the Advanced option.

I discovered the source of the problem when playing DSD files; the jriver MC volume has to be at 100% for DSD playback to work. As soon as the volume is changed, playback stops!

Yes, for some DACs volume has to be set to 100% or else you'll just get static or garbled sound.

DLNA sends native DSD sample rates (e.g. 2.8 MHz or 5.6 MHz) by default, without any special settings.  The Advanced DLNA setting for Bitstreaming is used to convert the native sample rates to DoP, for DACs that accept DoP.  It should not be used to send native sample rates.
