Auto Import missing tracks

(1/1)

telf:
Folks, when using (MC25.0.108 64bit)Library - Auto Import (add a single folder) 3 out of the 12 tracks(FLAC 44.1/16bit) recently purchased are not showing up in my Library. What am I doing wrong here? The files in question will play when I Open Media File, so the files are perfectly compatible but just wont be imported into my library... ::)

JimH:
Anything different about those?  Try a search in MC.  They may not be where you think they are because the tags aren't correct.

blgentry:
I've heard this same thing several times about purchased tracks.  In all cases that I can remember, the files did not have proper tags.  So, MC imported them, but you don't see them grouped with the album because their tags are wrong.

Try doing a search, in the upper right search bar, for part of the file name, or the disk location where they are located.  See if they show up under the search.

Or use the Audio > Files view and drill down into the folder where they are located.  If you see them in either of these ways, then MC has them imported.  At that point they just need to be tagged.  MC has a good tagger.  Edit > Tag . Or you can use some external tagger if you prefer.

Brian.

I use the playlist “Recently Imported” to find those. Then edit tags there

Absinthe:
I have this issue a lot when migrating files of "unknown origin" into my library.  These are usually purchased files or media ripped by others (or myself at another time on another set of hardware using different rippers/software and so on), on their own personal equipment and always have malformed tags.  Usually, the culprit is the Media Type and Media Subtype tags.  In all cases, I physically drag the physical files to the "Playing Now" pane and inspect the tags manually.  There is also a pesky checkbox in the Auto-Import window called "Ignore files previously removed from library"  This can pose a problem if you import the file, then remove it from the library to move it to another location on a disc, then attempt to re-import it.  The "Rename, Move and Copy Files" function scares a lot of people so it doesn't get used properly in this instance and the results can be frustrating
