Can't add ATI 8500DV as TV Source
« on: May 02, 2003, 07:41:38 am »

I'm using version 6.14.01.6307 of the ATI driver dated March 13, 2003, but when I try to use it, I hear sound for about half a second and then a dialog appears telling me that the TV connection failed.

This failure results in a second issue. If it do this when trying to scan for channels, I can again hear a snippit of sound and then the dialog telling me of the failure. It then loops to the next channel and again a failure.  I would think that after 100+ channel changes, it would finally give up but instead, I ended the process.

Is there some trick to this or is there a problem using the 8500DV?

There has been quite some discussion on this a few weeks back. Here is the solution:

Go to Start -> Run, and execute the following command:

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\TV\AVBISurf.ax"

assuming that you installed the ATI software in its default installation folder.  Also see here http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=display;num=1046153817;start=19#19
