Please help with HDR playback [Solved]
(1/1)
i3c:
Hi,
I thought I had followed the directions for setting up MediaCenter for HDR playback. When I playback a 4k HDR MKV the image has fine, regularly-spaced, horizontal black lines. If I minimize the video window I see the black lines across the desktop too. When I exit MediaCenter the black lines go away. I don't get this issue with regular movies.
Intel i5-7300HQ
GeForce GTX 1060 3G
Windows 10 Home 1909
JRiver MediaCenter 26.0.22

Does this happen when you play this video with other players (like MPC or VLC)?
i3c:
Hi,
The stripes don't show up in either MPC-HT or VLC. MPC-HT does not display the HDR content correctly -- it looks flat and washed out (I assume it needs some configuring to work with HDR content.) VLC looks pretty good right out of the box, though.
thanks.
JimH:
Please try a Google search for HDR JRiver.
Here's an example of what you can find:

It looks like it was a hardware issue. I no longer see the problem after installing a new (8k certified!) HDMI cable.
