Houseband app and Alexa
« on: February 18, 2020, 06:25:03 am »

Hi
Is the houseband app still being supported for Media Center 26?
I ask this because I keep getting 'internal server error' everytime I enter my access key and press submit.
I have enabled Port 52199 and I have checked on 'Canyouseeme.org' that it is not being blocked by my Windows Firewall.

I have tried on 3 different android devices and keep getting the same error.

Can anyone give me advice on what to do next to try and solve this?

You'd be much better served asking this question in the official thread for Houseband https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,102709.0.html

Have you turned authentication off?  Have you gone through all the troubleshooting in the linked thread?

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I managed to get it working by doing a factory reset on my modem/router as a last resort.

I am in the UK and from what I have read, the Virgin Media Hub 3.0 is not one of the best modem routers.

Having got it working though I found it was playing on my server and not on my HTPC.

Any idea how to get it to play through my HTPC?

Did you enter the access key for your HTPC or for your server?

Hi
My SERVER and HTPC have different access keys.

My HTPC works fine accessing the Server using the library on the HTPC and the HTPC access key.
When I use Gizmo on my android, I access the Server using the Server's access key and that works fine as well.

Should I be using the server's access key on my HTPC then and if so should I also copy the Library from the HTPC to the Server?

Although I have been using JRiver for a number of years, a lot of the stuff people talk about on this Forum is way over my head.

I so wish they would do a 'Dummies guide to JRiver' for people who are not so technically minded.

Since you want the playback to happen on your HTPC, I would use the HTPC access key with Houseband.  You shouldn't have to change anything else.

Hi
Thanks for your help.

When I first set up Houseband I used the Access key for the HTPC and it wouldn't play on my HTPC so I used the Server access key instead and it played on the Server.

After reading your reply just now I put the HTPC access key in my HTPC again and it still wouldn't play.

I went back to my HTPC about 5 minutes later and tried it again and it played fine.

Thanks so much for your assistance and patience. I just hope all is well now.

Just need to play about with it now to see what it can do

Kindest regards

Michael

Glad to hear you got it working.  Hopefully you'll be trouble free from here on out.
