Hi all,

MacBook Pro Mojave - ASUS CD/DVD/BD Burner.
'Finder' and 'iTunes' can burn music and mp3 discs to cdr/+r/rw dvd+r

MC plays and rips music CD
Device list shows drive. Says 'Insert Disc' no matter what type blank I put in there.

There's a chance burning may not be implemented yet on Mac.

Unfortunately, Burning from MC for Mac has never been supported.

This becomes quite a pain when you want to burn a real audio CD from tracks you have in MC.  Because you first need to find them and convert to WAV. Then somehow number them so that they are in the order you want.  Then finally, use a third party utility to do the actual burn to CD.

I use the free app "Burn", which does a great job.  In past years "Burn" would directly read FLAC files and transcode them on the fly to be burned to an Audio CD.  But for some reason a few years ago, Burn took out FLAC support.  So now I do a 3 step (or more) procedure to burn Audio compilations.  Luckily I almost never burn CD compilations.

On the other hand, burning full albums is REALLY easy!  I use XLD for that.  Just do "open folder as disc" on the folder with your album in it.  Then, once it reads it, press the burn button at the upper right corner.  Easy peasy lemon squeezey, it's done!

In fact, I should probably try doing this with compilations too.  The numbering is the only thing stopping me.  I'll have to do some experiments.

My experiment worked well!

Here's the technique:

1.  Build a playlist to be burned to disc.
2.  Highlight everything in the playlist.
3.  <right click> < Library Tools > Rename Move and Copy files
4.  Fill out the form as:
  A.  Template:  Copy
  B.  Directories (checked):  Choose your directory to hold your files to be burned.  This directory should be empty.
  C.  filename (checked):  Paste in this expression:

padnumber(CustomData(#),2)_[Album Artist (auto)]_[Album]_[Name]  D.  Everything else unchecked.
5.  Look at the preview window and make sure the Copy looks correct.  It should have numbers as the first part of the file name so that the files will be burned in order.
6.  Click OK to copy the files.
7.  Go to Finder and make sure the files are where they should be.  (optional)
8.  Open XLD and do "open folder as disc", selecting this folder that you just copied files to.
9.  When XLD shows the files in your playlist, press the burn button and do the burn.

It's way better than my old way.  Hopefully it will help someone out.

Thanks for the bad news. I've created a Playlist in MC of what I wanted to burn. MC tells me the size of the playlist so I can chop it down to 800MB, then used >Export Playlist (.m3u extended). VLC opens it but I can't see where to burn in VLC. itunes opens it well, and burns with ease.  I'll look at XLD for more options.
