How can I use the RPi's DAC audio outs as PC input? The mobo analogs are being used.

Is there any way for MC to see a line input as an audio source? Using Volumio on the Pi.

I'm confused, because you seem to have answered your own question.

You know you need an input, as you comment the motherboard analog inputs are in use.

So you would cable the two machines together how?  Add a compatible input on the PC and it's trivial. No available inputs on the PC and it's impossible.

So I don't understand your question perhaps.  You could stream from the pi to the pc using dlna or something of course, over the network.  But you want to use the pi's audio out, which means you need someplace to plug that cable in. What else is there?

Are you asking how to add another audio input to the PC?  You could buy a soundblaster audio card and install it in an internal slot, or you could buy a USB audio adapter.  Those can be had for cheap, and don't require opening the case.  Just make sure you buy one that has inputs and not just outputs.

A network solution is fine, and want to use the audio output from Volumio as an MC source to play.

You can use File->Open Live  if the driver for that Behringer supports WASAPI or ASIO.

When you put it that way it seems convoluted... I just want to listen to the internet stations that come packaged in Volumio.

HTPC is in another room with wifi access only, and all mobo analog outs are connected to amps.

Just tinkering, will give the ASIO thing a shot. Thanks to wer for the tip, I have never used the open live feature, looks promising.

Oh, Rod's not putting it any way.  It IS convoluted.

You could just access those same radio stations from software on the PC, like MC.  They're just URLs.

But go ahead and tinker.  Good luck and have fun.

Yep. I would be looking for PC based access to the stations. Most are available multiple ways.

If you find the correct URL for the stream, some streams can be played directly in MC and will use the JRiver Audio Engine. Others would require you to play to the MC WDM Driver on the PC. Either way is still only one DA Conversion.

The File > Open URL is an easy test. You can save Stream URLs to play live at any time. The functionality in MC has been a bit of a moving target, but it works. I have only played around with the possibilities a bit. Take a look at "Streaming > RadioTunes" for some ideas.
