DSP & Output Format won't play multi channel sound
« on: May 20, 2020, 11:32:47 pm »

When I try to play multi-channel DSF files through HDMI to my Marantz AV 7704, using the Media Center setting the DSP to 192,000 Hz and source number of channels the Marantz only sees the stereo signal.  I have been using Roon for audio and it automatically changes the DSD multichannel tracks tp PCM and my Marantz AV 7704 sees it as Multi channel though not at original DSD quality but still pretty darn good, see attachments. To be honest the only reason I even keep using the Media Center is because I used to be able to play DSF files through DLNA to my OPPO 205 at DSD quality even mulit-channel but even that is not working any longer. I used to be able to use the JRemote and direct it to my OPPO 205 now it starts the count on the OPPO then quits trying.

The only difference I see right off the bat is that Roon is resampling to 176.6 kHz instead of 192 kHz, which makes sense after the DSD64 to 352.8 kHz conversion.

What does the audio path in MC say while playing the content?

I never use "Source number of channels" since the results are unpredictable.  I suggest you set it to 5.1 and try again.
