Moving Tag entry to different tag
« on: May 20, 2020, 04:21:26 pm »

I am buying a fair amount of albums from Qobuz and they come with the Comment field populated with a list of Performers. I'd  like to move these entries to another (custom generated tag Performers). Is there a non-manual way of doing this?
many thanks,
Hans

Select files.
Right-click on files.
Select Library Tools > < Move / Copy fields...

The rest should be self explanatory.

This is the closest issue to one I am having so I'll start my question from here.  I'm wanting MC 26 to use the "Name" that I have spent hours typing in on the track files I get from DVD Audio Extractor.  DVDAE seems to only call the files "Chapter 01"(etc.) so I have had to enter them afterward myself.  I now have more than 100 DVD Audio disks that MC 26 just lists as Chapter 01 and not the name I gave it.  Especially with classical, I want naming the way I like it without repeating the conductor and orchestra on every file so I'm hoping there's a way to get JRiver to use my names.   BTW, I don't mean "filename" but the "name" field.

I've tried the "select names, control click names, choose library tools, move / copy fields" but no changes happen.  Thanks for any help.

If the correct names show up in any of the fields in MC you can use Roderick's suggestion and move them from the original field to the [Name] field.

I now have more than 100 DVD Audio disks that MC 26 just lists as Chapter 01 and not the name I gave it.

List where Bill?

If you have entered the correct names into the [Name] field, then many standard MC Views will show that value.

Perhaps if you could post a screenshot of what you see, and describe what you want to see, we would understand and be able to help. Maybe describe how you are using MC a bit as well. Server? Client? Standalone? Using a remote like JRemote? Using DLNA to a TV or other DLNA Renderer? Anything else?

Thanks for the tips.  I did get the "move / copy" choice in Library Tools to work just fine.  I was thinking about it's function the wrong way.  I'm SO glad it is there and have already fixed my 150 or so DVD-A rips.  There are some others time saving gems I found in the Library Tools tool box that I needed, too, and are great.

Regarding how I am using JRiver in my system, I, as yet, haven't gotten it working properly.  I've been doing all my server music listening with my Oppo 205's USB server function.  It's great and is very simple to use but I've gotten my appetite wetted for even higher res over at NativeDSD which has gotten me to look into computer based music playing and thus JRiver.  I've spent quite a lot of time getting up to speed with JRiver and building my database.  I've just gotten a Mac mini to use in my listening room and haven't gotten the output settings worked out for high res, multi-channel output from MC-26 and the Mac Mini.  I'm currently only getting low res stereo audio and unstable video via my Marantz 7005 and HDMI.  Any settings and set-up tips would be appreciated.

Thanks again
