USB-UIRT in MC 26
« on: May 28, 2020, 11:02:05 pm »

Is there some sort of update needed from JRiver to get this working in 64-Bit?

The device seems to load fine in Windows 10 Device manager.  It also loads both the 32-Bit and 64-Bit drivers.  It responds to remote presses.   Is there some other component besides an update to JRiver MC 26 that needs to be updated?

I don't really want 2 installations and I would rather stick with the 64-Bit as my database is quite large and quite a few of the files I play are also very large.

Thanks.

Carl.

Hi Carl--

I'm working on the same problem, and found the following threads that give me no hope...
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,113669.msg789785.html
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,117424.msg812355.html

Based on another thread, I've started researching a more modern device called the FLIRC.

Good luck!

I looked into it but the driver package does not include the "uuirtdrv.dll" for 64-bit, which is the API interface we use.
Apparently, you can get it from somewhere, but I have no clue why they wouldn't include it in their driver. Without that part of the driver being installed, we can't use USB-UIRT in 64-bit.

Apparently this is the 64-bit version: https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=618829&postcount=191

It's probably not signed or anything like that though, not sure.

You could try placing that into the Windows\System32 directory and see if it works. I don't have such a device myself, but the part of the driver missing was easy to spot.

Worked for me--I ended up putting the 'new' version of uuirt.dll from the SageTV thread linked above in both System32 and in SysWOW64, since a search revealed a copy of the old DLL in both places. (It also showed up in the System32\DriverStore hierarchy, but good ol' SYSTEM wouldn't let me copy it to that location, and I didn't feel like fighting it.)

In limited testing, it looks like MC64bit once again recognizes my old USB-UIRT, and the few remote commands I tried worked as I expected.

Thanks for the pointers! Check another item off my To-Do list and saved me $20 in buying a new IR transceiver!

You probably didn't need to put it in the SysWOW64 folder, as that's where 32-bit executables and .dll files are meant to be located.
