It is done in the background now.

There was a recent Apple update as well.  One additional note is that my output source within the Mac also changes during the cash event - I have a PreSonus and a Fostex USB connection, MC defaults to Fostex as the Core Audio and after the crash, the OS system is set to Presonus - I also run Soundsource, However, if I disable Soundsource the crash still happened. The entire system needs to be rebooted In order to correct the problem and reset the OS sound default back to Fostex to re-create the crash.

Is that crash above from playing RP?
Playback of RP isn't supposed to read tags...

Bob -
I just sent you all the crash reports in an email.  At least two of the four were when Radio Paradise was playing and the others were from the library. Let me know if you need any additional information.

Thanks

I think the radio paradise playing when it happens is a red herring, I can't reproduce that at all.
The crashes are all in the same place in the flac metadata.
What would be useful is to get a Log from MC that corresponds to the crash. I'm thinking there are files(s) that have bad metadata. I see 2 of the 4 are from expanding cue files. Can you reproduce the crash with logging enabled, then without restarting MC, send me the Log?
It's in ~/Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 26
Thanks.

Library Eye:
Mine kept crashing too, since installing update that appeared last night. Can't get through a single AAC file, can't get through a single FLAC. I have not yet run the latest macOS update, so that's not it.
My recently updated Linux Media Center starting crashing on background auto import of same folders (separate computers reading from separate disks - each machine has external hard drive with full set of music folders). This is all new trouble for both installs- they were working fine before.
Waiting a bit I saw the macOS version crashes without even trying to play a song. I tested a couple single-file-FLAC-with-cue files where the auto import seemed to stop, by opening cue in XLD and not only did metadata read fine, it even passed the AccurateRip database check. I did a bunch of other trouble-shooting, all night, between both OSes - -tried skipping cue files on Mac but no help; tried new Desktop Environment in Linux in case I was gonna learn Cinnamon ain't supported (no improvement), and reformatted external hard drive (from NTFS to Ext4) to no avail before realizing macOS troubles seemed to be the same. Removed and installed Media Center from scratch in Linux, but same problems.
I gave up on Linux install for now and just removed it. It's the macOS install where all my customized library and tags are anyhow. Cannot even open the Mac version anymore, crashes in first second, every time I launch it. Expecting I will uninstall, do without my library in meantime, and wait to see when next update posts here. Already pre-ordered 27 but I just mean the next point release for 26.

update: May have found the culprits. Will post again when tested.
